Vintage Sgraffito Italian Peasant Village Art Pottery Pitcher Creamer, circa 1928-1960. Excellent condition - no chips, cracks or crazing. Sgraffito (in Italian “to scratch”) is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of color on colors (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay color underneath. Measures approx. 3 x 3.5 x 2.75 high. Weighs 4.2 oz. Marked on the bottom.
